Career Workshop Workbook

I saw this workbook file online and thought I would post a link to it. It's the Career Workshop Workbook we use in the workshop class we teach at the Stake Center on the last and first Wednesday of each month.

If you've been to the workshop, then you already have a printed version. If you haven't attended, you may want to take a look and see the concepts that are taught at the workshop.

Enjoy!

Verification Processor jobs at Redflex

I received the following recently from Ron Bentley, another Ward Employment specialist in our stake:

"Fellow Ward Employment Specialists:

A brother in the Mountain Vista Ward works for Redflex Traffic Systems and made the bishop aware that his company is looking for a number of people for a Verification Processor I job category, paying $11.50 - $14.50 per hour. The bishop asked me to talk with the brother and find out about the job information and share it with fellow ward employment specialists in the stake who might have candidates seeking a reasonably high paying hourly job. Redflex Traffic Systems is the operational company behind all the traffic cameras popping up everywhere. As everyone knows, the camera program has been expanded rapidly by the State, Cities and other entities. Reportedly any person applying with reasonable typing/computer skills and no negative information will get hired. The company location is in North Phoenix at I-17 and Pinnacle Peak Road, north of the Loop 101. It is not close to Mesa, but some individuals may need the work and be willing to travel. The brother in our ward works from his home and his computer issuing citations to the speeding photo victims, but these jobs may not have the work at home option due to their need of supervision, etc.

The specific job information is available on http://www.careerbuilder.com/ under Find Jobs by entering Keyword Redflex and Location Phoenix and then enter to generate a search. The listing shows "1" but there are many availalbe positions. Detailed job information is available from that point including Duties/Responsibilities and Minimum Requirements. A scanned copy of that information is attached. Resume's can be submitted online. The company prefers to consider candidates through the online job listing, but walk-ins are also considered at the company location. A map is available.

Good luck.

Ron Bentley"

Useful Websites

Here are a few websites that you might find helpful in looking for a job

LDS Employment Resource Services The Church's job resource site.

careerbuilder is a general job search site with free tools and services.

Jobing.com is another job search website that is local to the Phoenix area.

Monster this is probably the largest and most popular job search website.

SimplyHired This is also a job search website that is very simple to use.

Glassdoor This is a website for anonymously sharing salary and management rating information. To get the information you need to share information. It can be useful for salary negotiation and expectations, and for gaining information that isn't generally publicly available.

LinkedIn Networking is the best way to find a job. More than 80% of all jobs are filled through networking before they are posted externally. LinkedIn is the best online tool I have seen for developing, maintaining, and using a network for referrals. Get as many of your contacts online with you and you will quickly see how many referral possibilities there are. If you've ever heard the theory of 6 degrees of separation you'll soon see how it is possible to be connected to millions of people very soon.

Hound Hound is a job search engine that searches company sites directly, before they move to Monster, Jobing, and other websites who charge employers for their services. If you want the information before the world knows about it, then a tool like this can give you a bit of an edge.
